Eligibility Criteria for Leadership Akron's CLI Program

To apply for the Community Leadership Institute (CLI) program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Live, Work, or Serve in Greater Akron: Applicants should have a strong connection to the Greater Akron area, demonstrating an investment in the community through residence, employment, or volunteerism.

• Applicants are required to attend all program days and activities, as full engagement is essential to gaining the most from the CLI experience.

• Applicants should be open to creating meaningful relationships with fellow participants and community members, fostering collaboration and shared learning.

• Applicants must exhibit a genuine motivation to contribute to the Greater Akron community through leadership, advocacy, or service, leveraging the knowledge and skills gained in the program to make a difference.

• Ideal applicants are eager to step outside their comfort zones, engage in thoughtful discussions, and embrace new perspectives to strengthen their leadership potential.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE APPLICATION PROCESS

The application needs to be completed in one sitting. We recommend that you prepare responses in a separate document and copy and paste them into the application form fields. The application covers the following areas and includes several narrative responses.

In consideration of Leadership Akron (“LA”) permitting me to participate in the Leadership Akron CLI program, I do for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, successors and assigns, hereby waive any claims against and release and forever discharge LA together with its successors, assigns, employees, agent and servants, from any and all liabilities, damages, and causes of action whatsoever, whether asserted against LA or its successors, assigns, employees, agents or servants, as a result of my participation in this activity.

I understand that I may be photographed participating in Leadership Akron CLI program activities and in consideration for being permitted to participate in such activities, I hereby grant to LA and any entities related to it a royalty-free perpetual license to publish, print, copy and/or otherwise use such photographs in any manner and for any purpose as determined solely by LA. I hereby release LA from any liability associated with its use of such photographs.

I understand that I may be asked to speak with a reporter(s) and may have my image recorded by print to electronic media for the purpose of general distribution and informing the public of the Leadership Akron CLI Program. I agree to allow LA to retain copies of said recorded materials for the purpose of LA informational or goodwill publications and productions. I further waive any rights to compensation.

I agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless LA and the other persons granted a waiver or release by this instrument against any claims, liabilities, damages and causes of action suffered or incurred by those persons as a result of a claim asserted against them by a person claiming by or through me with respect to any matter which is the subject of the release and waiver provided for in this instrument. This release has no expiration date and cannot be revoked.

Tuition

Tuition for the LA CLI is $1,000.00, which covers all mandatory program experiences.

If selected to participate in Leadership Akron, you (or your sponsoring organization) agree to pay the tuition fee of $1,000.00, which is non-refundable. Tuition is due January 15, 2027.
